Today you've no time and need an easy barbecue sauce recipe right?
Don’t panic, you can have this quick bbq sauce recipe cracked off in less time than it takes your family to say “let’s have a barbecue!”
Top of the ingredients list is a tomato based pasta sauce and I've also included passata as a good alternative. Sometimes passata is used as an alternative description for tomato paste but technically passata is raw tomatoes passed through a sieve (hence the name passata which when translated from Italian means "passed"). Tomato paste is further processed in that it is concentrated and therefore too viscous for this recipe.
I hope that my description therefore avoids confusion and you can easily understand the consistency of sauce that we're looking for.
Note:- If using pasta sauce you'll get a sweeter end result and that's because there's added sugar in the pasta sauce. For my own health I prefer the sugar free option of passata.
Whichever way you choose to go, the beauty of this sauce is that you can make it in minutes and it uses ingredients that you're almost certain to have in your home. It’s so easy that all you have to do is mix and stir, warm it up and slap it on your burger.
Worcestershire sauce contains both gluten and fish. There's mustard in mustard (surprise surprise). Passata should contain nothing but tomatoes but if using you choose to use a pasta sauce then please read the label.
