Grilled Shrimp Marinade Recipe

It doesn't take long to put this grilled shrimp marinade together and it really makes a difference, but don't take my word for it, try it today!

Here's my grilled shrimp marinade working its magic

Look at all those beautiful colors. Not only does it look good in the marinade, the finished article is delightfully colorful too...and it tastes superb.

I like to use this marinade to prepare shrimps to top off a crisp lunchtime salad. Select whatever salad leaves you choose and toss them in a mix of lime juice and olive oil, you can use the lime that you've just zested for this marinade recipe. Top off with grilled shrimp, a sprinkle of salt and a final drizzle of olive oil.

Hopefully it's a lovely hot Summers day where you are and it's perfect for grilled shrimps over salad. This grilled shrimp marinade quantity is good for approximately 20 - 25 shrimp of medium / large size.

If you can get fresh ones where you are (lucky you) then great but you can do this with frozen ones too, you just have to be diligent to drain all the excess water off once the shrimps have thawed otherwise it will dilute the effect of the marinade.

Yield:- 5 tablespoons

Preparation Time:- 15 minutes
Marinade Time:- 30 minutes
Cooking Time:- 5 minutes

Total Time:- 50 minutes

Ingredients:-

  • 1 inch cube fresh ginger (minced)
  • 2 cloves garlic crushed
  • 1 fresh red seeded chili finely chopped
  • 4 tablespoon olive oil
  • Zest of one lime

Method:-

It's as simple as throwing all the ingredients into your marinading bowl and giving it a stir round. That's it, your marinade is ready.

The easy way to mince up your ginger is to use the garlic crusher but make sure that you do small chunks at a time otherwise you end up squeezing hard, harder and harder still until suddenly the ginger gives way and squirts juice everywhere (and usually most of it ends on you!).

Scrape the underside of the crusher to get as much of the soft ginger pulp into your marinade as possible and do the same for the garlic.

Place your peeled raw shrimp tails in the marinade and let it work its magic for about 30 minutes or as long as you can resist.

After thirty minutes all you need do is thread the top and bottom of each shrimp tail onto a skewer and you're ready for the grill.
